FPA's Business & Economic Research division serves members with key statistical needs. This division also promotes a general understanding of the flexible packaging industry by gathering, analyzing, and disseminating industry and economic data that monitors the health of the industry. These goals are met by: conducting original research of converter's finances; safety records; manufacturing indicators; employee compensation; industry demographics; imports and exports; and, trends. This information is most beneficial to our members because it gives them the ability to benchmark their operations against that of other companies. The division also works closely with governmental agencies to improve the statistical data on the flexible packaging industry.

The public has an opportunity to obtain this information in our annual State of the Industry Report. This definitive source on the flexible packaging industry is often quoted by industry leaders and cited in trade press. This comprehensive report analyzes the macro economic trends of the industry and includes the full results of the annual Outlook Survey, which captures the pulse of industry leaders. This is the only survey of its type which measures converter and suppliers' strategic plans for the coming year, identifies current industry business conditions, and pinpoints their thoughts on the direction of the industry.
