FPA Environmental, Health, and Safety Committee

The flexible packaging industry operates at the intersection of innovation, responsibility, and continuous improvement. From the facilities where films are manufactured and converted, to the regulatory frameworks that govern how those operations run, the environmental, health, and safety performance of the industry matters to the workers on the floor, to the communities surrounding our facilities, and to the long-term credibility and resilience of the sector as a whole. The FPA Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Committee exists to ensure that performance in these areas never stands still.

Our Mission

The EHS Committee is dedicated to fostering continual improvement in environmental performance, worker health and safety, and facility-level regulatory compliance across the flexible plastics industry. We believe that a safer, cleaner, and better-regulated industry strengthens the entire value chain. Our work brings together manufacturers, converters, suppliers, and industry stakeholders to share knowledge, confront challenges, and raise standards across the board.

What We Do

The EHS Committee pursues its mission through three core areas of activity:

  • Industry Forums and Knowledge Sharing: We provide regular forums where members can share practical experience, discuss emerging challenges, celebrate successes, and learn from one another in an environment of openness and trust. No facility operates in isolation — and the collective knowledge of our membership is one of the most valuable resources available to any EHS professional working in the flexible packaging sector.

  • Tools, Information, and Guidance: We develop and deliver practical environmental, health, and safety resources designed specifically for the needs of flexible packaging operations — helping members navigate complex regulatory requirements, implement best practices, and build the internal capability needed to drive sustained improvement at facility level.

  • Legislative and Regulatory Engagement: We monitor, analyze, and respond to federal legislative and regulatory proposals that impact facility-level environmental, health, and safety performance across our industry. The Committee provides members with timely intelligence on regulatory developments and ensures that the flexible packaging industry's voice is heard — clearly, credibly, and constructively — in the policy conversations that shape our operating environment.

Get Involved

The strength of the EHS Committee lies in the engagement of its members. Whether you are an experienced EHS professional looking to share expertise, a facility manager navigating a specific regulatory challenge, or an organization seeking to benchmark and improve your environmental and safety performance, the Committee offers the connections, resources, and forums to support your goals.
