Flexible Packaging Europe Sees Raw-Material Prices Surge In Q2 2026

General News, Trends in Packaging,

Prices for the raw materials used in flexible packaging rose significantly in the second quarter of 2026, compared to both the previous quarter and the same period last year. This is according to the Raw Material Price Index from European industry association Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). FPE attributed the increase to recent geopolitical tensions, including the Middle East conflict and the closing of the Strait of Hormuz. Guido Aufdemkamp, executive director of FPE, said, “The second quarter of 2026 was characterised by exceptional price increases across almost all key packaging substrates. “These developments were primarily driven by geopolitical supply risks, rising energy and raw-material costs, and considerable uncertainty across global supply chains.”
