The Future Is Flexible

A team from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) took first place in the 2026 Student Flexible Packaging Design Challenge for a package that creates pre-portioned meals for dog food. Students Kanya Misra, Olivia Peterson, and Jennifer Takao created the package—Paw Pantry Pre-Portioned Nature’s Blend Dry Kibble—for the contest sponsored by the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA). “With Paw Pantry, our team wanted to create a flexible package that makes life easier for active dog owners by offering a convenient, pre-portioned solution that helps preserve freshness and reduce hassle on the go,” the students said in a statement. “Being recognized in this competition means a lot to us because it reflects the time, creativity, and care we put into designing a package that balances usability, innovation, and sustainability.”
