The Flexible Packaging Association promotes a general financial and economic understanding of the flexible packaging industry by gathering, analyzing and disseminating industry and economic information that monitors the health and performance of key industry attributes.
FPA's Financial Benchmarking Survey Program
Converter Member Reports
The Flexible Packaging Association also conducts a Financial Benchmarking Survey Program which requires converter members to complete and return the requisite surveys to receive the final report information. This program includes the Earnings Survey/Reports which are conducted twice per year, mid-year, and year-end, and the Operating Cost/Ratios Survey/Report which is conducted on an annual basis.

The Biannual Earnings Report for Participating FPA Converters
The Earnings Reports include financial expense and manufacturing cost information with key areas including materials, direct labor, sales, marketing, administrative, research and development, other manufacturing costs, and where applicable data on corporate allocations and interest expenses. It provides a wealth of key expense data for members to use for financial benchmarking purposes.

The Annual Operating Cost/Ratios Report for Participating FPA Converters
The Operating Cost/Ratio Report is done on an annual basis and includes detailed profit/loss breakdowns of key financial expenses and manufacturing cost information for members to use for financial benchmarking purposes. There is detailed expense information for total cost of production with, for example, direct and indirect labor, repairs and maintenance labor, factory administrative, clerical and supervision benefit cost, depreciation and amortization, operating and repair and maintenance supplies, and utilities, and direct material used. There is also detailed expense cost detail for sales, marketing, administrative, and research and development categories plus where applicable data on corporate allocations, other expense (income), extraordinary expense (income), and interest expense. Composite data is broken down by company size and primary manufacturing operation to facilitate like comparisons.
