FPA Opposes New Jersey’s S.4656 – The "Protect our Health from Plastics Act"

The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) submitted formal opposition to New Jersey Senate Bill 4656, the "Protect our Health from Plastics Act." While we share goals around environmental sustainability, we oppose this legislation because its rigid 50-percent plastic source reduction mandates, sweeping chemical bans, redefinition of advanced recycling as disposal, and heavy financial penalties threaten the safe distribution of everyday goods, disrupt interstate commerce, and impose unmanageable economic burdens on manufacturers and New Jersey families. We urge lawmakers to reject S.4656 while remaining open to constructive dialogue on practical, science-based solutions to enhance flexible packaging circularity.
